Highlights for this week of August 17th – August 20th; please check back on Thursday for your POTC spotlight and picks for the weekend!

– Monday, August 17th: nothing officially on our calendar, but Monday nights are always a great night to watch cheap movies at the Academy Theater (Monday Movie Madness: watch any two consecutive movies for $6/$5 children and seniors) or McMenamins ‘Burger, Beer & a Movie‘ for $10-$12 per person depending on theater. – Tuesday, August 18th: enjoy a free noon time concert at Pioneer Courthouse Square or a free 6:00pm concert at Kenton Park. The Bagdad Theater hosts NW Filmmakers Debut Night at 7:00pm, as local filmmakers compete for a $200 first place cash prize ($3 admission).

– Wednesday, August 19th: take in a free 6:00pm concert by The Bobby Torres Ensemble as part of the ‘Music on Main Street‘ series in downtown Portland, then head north to Bridgeport Brewery for the free 9:00pm ‘Movies in the Pearl.’

– Thursday, August 20th: free concerts appear to be the theme for this week, and plenty of locales around the city offer evening concerts in Tualatin, West Linn, Happy Valley, Milwaukie and in Hillsboro. Check our Calendar for specific locations and times.
