Spotlight: Weekend Picks

Weekend picks on the cheap:

– Willamette Week is putting on ‘The Give-Guide’ thank-you party at Berbati’s this Friday at 8:00pm. Admission is free, even if you didn’t donate. Details here, 21 and over only.

– The Tigard Library hosts an hour of Andean Folk Music in the Community Room this Friday at 7:00pm. Free.

– Friday night is also the Fifth Annual WORKS – Community Art and Music evening at The Old Church. 7:00pm – 11:00pm, $10 donation or $5 with canned food donation.

– The Intel Oregon LEGO Robotics State Tournament takes place this Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 am – 2:30pm at Liberty High School in Hillsboro. This event is free, see web site for more details.

– Sample New Seasons Markets’ favorite soups this Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am – 5:00pm for their Tasting event at all area stores.

– The Original Portland Bridal Show is this weekend at the Oregon Convention Center, complete with fashion shows, giveaways, vendor exhibitions and more. Download a $1 off coupon for advance tickets, otherwise it is $8.50 at the door.

– Willamette Week’s new Cheap Skate Deal Box features a restaurant food survey program, free Sunday meditation classes through the end of January, Music Millennium 20% off sale and more.

– The OSU Food Innovation Center has another taste test coming up:

The Sensory and Consumer Group at the Oregon State University Food Innovation Center is looking for participants between the ages of 25-60 yrs. for an Italian food taste test to take place on Wednesday, January 27th and Thursday, January 28th. The taste test is about 30 minutes and the compensation is $25. Test times run from 12:30pm to 4:30pm. If you are interested, please click on this link to submit a questionnaire. If you are selected to participate, we will contact you via email by Wednesday, January 20th where you must confirm your intent to participate. We will then send you another reminder email the day before the test.

We only contact those who were selected to participate and will be sending out those confirmation emails by January 20th. Photo ID and proof of age will be required to participate in this test.
