Thursday, May 17th:

Portland Community College 50th anniversary Founders’ Week features free admission to the Oregon Historical Society (1200 S.W. Park Avenue) for all PCC students, staff, retirees and alumni until Friday.
Northwest Senior Theater presents a free performance of “Broadway Dreamers – On Our Way,” 2:00pm at Alpenrose Dairy Opera House.
– Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra presents “PCSO Dissected: Take 2,” 7:30pm at the Old Church. The concert features four ensembles composed of Portland area musicians, most of whom currently play with Portland Columbia Symphony. Admission is free but donations will be solicited.

Friday, May 18th:

Tualatin River Bird Festival, all weekend long at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. Features guided walks, musical performances, exhibits and more. Most activities are free, please see web site for more information.

13th Annual UFO Festival in McMinnville beginning at 7:00pm.
Well Arts presents “I:you,” a returning heroes performance at Launch Pad Gallery, 8:00pm. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Will-At-The-Door.

Saturday, May 19th:

– Last day to save big at the Fred Meyer Founder’s Day Sale; some super deals include a 2-pound Tillamook Medium Cheddar Cheese for just $3.99 (with coupon), apples/oranges/pears for just $.78 per pound and much more.

2012 Women in Trades Career Fair, 9:00am – 3:00pm at NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center. Open to everyone, free admission, free parking, free childcare, free workshops and activities.
Leach Botanical Garden’s Children’s Nature Fair, 10:00am – 2:00pm, free. This year’s theme is ‘Amazing Bugs.’
Rose City Used Book Fair, 10:00am – 5:00pm at the Lloyd Center DoubleTree Hotel. Admission is $2 or $1 + 1 can of food for the Oregon Food Bank.
Maifest, a German spring celebration, 10:00am – 7:00pm at Oaks Amusement Park. Free admission, features kids activities, live music, food vendors, Maypole dance and more.

– Free workshop “BBQ like a Pro,” 1:00pm at Woodstock Library.
– Free presentation “Edible Wild Plants: Wild Foods from Dirt to Plate,” 1:00pm at Multnomah County Central Library US Bank Room.
Twilight Repertory Theatre performs James McLure’s “1959 Pink Thunderbird Convertible,” 2:00pm at Shoe Box Theater. Sundays are “pay what you will.”
