Topics will include: an overview of taxes and the mechanics of filing your taxes, available tax credits, what documents you will need when filing, and where to do your taxes for free or low cost. SATURDAY, JANUARY 12TH:

– Free: “Fresh Winter Salads: Why Bitter is the New Sweet,” informative cooking demonstration with recipes and samples. 11:00am – 12:00pm at downtown Portland’s Central Library US Bank room.
– Free (with donations to the Oregon Food Bank): Annual J.R.R. Tolkien Birthday Bash all day long at McMenamins Kennedy School. Features free movie screenings, costume contest and music, open for all ages.
– Free: Capoeira Brazilian martial arts workshop and demonstration, 12:30pm – 2:00pm. Wear loose fitting clothes, bring a water bottle and prepare yourself for a day of Brazilian fun!

– Free: Big Ass Boombox Music Festival, Friday and Saturday with 40 bands and 15 writers over four venues within walking distance of one another.
