Monday, March 4th:
Music Millennium Community Day / Songwriters Circle features refreshments all day long and in-store performances at 6:00pm and 7:00pm. Free for all ages.
– Presentation “Sleeping on the Summits,” 6:30pm at REI Hillsboro. Join Dr. Jon Kedrowski, acclaimed author, world class mountaineer, and Everest summiteer, as he shares tales of his journeys and experiences. Free.
– Presentation “Angel’s Truck Stop: A Woman’s Love, Laughter and Loss during the Vietnam War,” with author Captain Angelica Pilato, 7:00pm at the Tigard Library. Free for all ages.
– Oregon Encyclopedia History Night presents “Houses without Names: The Common Everyday Houses of Portland’s Neighborhoods,” 7:00pm at McMenamins Mission Theater. Free admission, minors okay with parent or guardian.
– OMSI Science Pub presents “High Fructose Corn Syrup: Myths and Realities,” 7:00pm at McMenamins Bagdad Theater. $5 suggested cover charge, minor okay with parent or guardian.
First Monday Authors In Pubs series, 7:30pm – 9:00pm at the Jack London Bar (beneath the Rialto Pool Room) in downtown Portland. Free and open to the public, 21 and over only.
– Corrib Theater presents a staged reading of “Shiver,” 8:00pm at the BodyVox Dance Center. Online reservation required here; tickets are free, a $10 donation is encouraged.

Tuesday, March 5th:
– “Comedy, Economics, and Climate Change,” a free discussion with Yoram Bauman, the world’s first and only stand-up economist. 3:00pm – 4:00pm at Portland State University’s Market Center Building, Room 123. Open to the public.
– First Tuesday opening art exhibit features the work of Pacific Northwest Sculptors, 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Glenn & Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center in downtown Hillsboro, free. An opening reception and a house concert with multi-instrumentalist Calin Matei will be held. Just two blocks away, Sequoia Gallery + Studios will also offer an art reception with food and music, 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

Wednesday, March 6th:
Wondrous Wednesday Discount Day at the World Forestry Center — admission is just $3 for all.
Portland Metro Dealers 55th RV Show, 11:00am – 8:00am Wednesday – Saturday and 11:00am – 6:00pm on Sunday at the Portland Expo Center. Admission is $9 for adults; visit the web site and print off a 2 for 1 admission coupon to save.
– Free workshop “Tax Time 101,” 6:30pm at the St Johns Library. Topics will include: an overview of taxes and the mechanics of filing your taxes, available tax credits, what documents you will need when filing, and where to do your taxes for free or low cost.
– Free class “Growing Fruit Trees at Home,” 6:30pm at the West Slope Community Library. This program is for adults only, and registration is required. Please call the library at 503-292-6416 to sign up.

Thursday, March 7th:
– Presentation “Seeds to Supper: Vegetable Gardening,” 6:00pm at the Hillsboro Main Library, free. Learn the process of starting your own vegetable garden.
– Lecture from the Oregon Humanities Conversation Project: “Lessons from Lincoln: Is Bipartisanship Possible?” 6:30pm at the Oregon Historical Society. Free and open to the public.
Popina Swim Suit Boutique grand opening party for their new Hollywood district location, 6:00pm – 9:30pm. There will be a fashion show, live surf music, prizes and more. Free.
– Fit Right’s First Thursdays Urban Adventure Run, 6:00pm beginning at Fit Right. Please register online and receive three extra raffle tickets; this event is free for all walkers and racers of all abilities.
– First Thursday monthly art gallery event in downtown Portland, Old Town / Chinatown, Northwest and the Pearl.
