- “The Boys of Little Mexico” book reading from author Steve Wilson, 7:30pm at Powell’s City of Books. The book chronicles the Woodburn High School soccer team as it chases an elusive state championship. Free.

Thursday, June 10th:
- Country Natural Beef & Partners present “Country Food Fair,” at downtown Portland’s new Director Park, 5:00pm – 9:00pm. The family-focused fair will feature cowboy activities including cowboy poetry, a story-telling circle, roping tricks and lessons, a stick horse rodeo for children, a barn dance and more. For a nominal fee, participants can also buy beef-related dishes from local vendors, all to benefit the Oregon Food Bank.

- Portland’s annual Pedalpalooza kicks off two weeks of bike related fun with a 7:00pm kick off ride at SE Portland’s Laurelhurst Park. Free.

- Salmon in the Trees: A photographic journey through Alaska’s Tongass rain forest,” book reading and signing with nature photographer Amy Gulick. 7:00pm at the Billy Frank Jr. Conference Center inside the Ecotrust Building, free event for the public.

- Compromising Positions: Race and Sex in Advertising, A Mad World Intergenerational Community Forum, hosted by Bitch magazine at Portland State University’s Smith Memorial Ballroom. 6:30pm, free.

Wednesday, June 2nd:
- The production play “The Garden,” is slated for 7:30pm at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Parish. Free admission. This workshop production in the style of Japanese Noh drama tells a Christian instead of a traditional Buddhist story. The play is written and directed by the Rev. Ken Arnold. Discussion and reception will follow.

- “Voz Alta,” (Loud Voice) an evening of music, poetry and song runs from 6:00pm – 9:00pm at Miracle Theater and is the kick off for Portland Latino Gay Pride Week. $5 donation suggested.

- Book reading “To the Woods: Sinking Roots, Living Lightly, and Finding True Home” with author Evelyn Searle Hess at Broadway Books, 7:00pm. Free.
